This engagement session truly made me feel on cloud nine. You can’t beat being in the middle of the CLOUDS on the top of a mountain! Emily and Will’s engagement session atop Max Patch Mountain was more incredible than we could have ever dreamed.

THE SHOOT:

On the day of the session, I drove out to Max Patch in the Asheville, NC area to meet up with Emily and Will. While we were a little worried that we were going to run into some winter weather and not be able to make it up there, we got so lucky with a sunny warm winter day! I knew this was going to be a special session as I knew the couple from back home in Florida, so it was an honor to be asked to shoot their engagement and wedding photos.

THE SETTING:

When we hiked to the top of the mountain (which was a challenging experience — it is fairly steep), we were literally ABOVE the clouds. It was such an amazing picture of God’s creation and we were blown away. Emily was in absolute shock when she saw the view as she said she had just been talking to Will about how she felt closest to God in the mountains. Every photo from this day was insane with the golden light, the beautiful mountains and the clouds surrounding us.

THE COUPLE:

Emily and Will are SUCH a playful couple. I truly think they are each other’s perfect match. It was such a blast to capture their energy and love for each other! They had so much fun during this shoot and made my job so easy.

LEAVE NO TRACE:

I absolutely love Max Patch and think that it’s an incredible place for your mountain photos. If you’re planning on going then, it’s so important to leave no trace there. It’s so close to my heart to take care of the mountains and nature around us so we can enjoy them to create beautiful moments like we did with Emily and Will! All we brought with us was a blanket and polaroid camera so we could be sure to leave nothing behind.

After the shoot, we went into Asheville to grab some ramen and talk about their wedding details. Truly a dream day! I’m obsessed with them and the photos we captured.
